enrolment into business education programme especially in the colleges of
education. The situation is becoming worrisome considering the social
implications it has on the education industry. Thus, the study was conducted
to determine strategies for boosting students’ enrolment into business
education programme of colleges of education in Delta State. Design of this
research was descriptive survey and 118 business education lecturers in the
colleges of education in Delta State participated in the survey. Data were
collected with questionnaire. The results of data analysis showed that the
respondents agreed that the attracting and retaining strategies considered in
the study were necessary frameworks for boosting students’ enrolment into
business education programme. The test of hypotheses showed that
irrespective of the years of work experience of the respondents, their
responses did not differ significantly. This indicated that the examined
attracting and retaining strategies were critical for boosting students’
enrolment. It was concluded that the attracting and retaining strategies
determined by the study are effective means of reversing the steady decline

Abstract The study assessed the adequacy of instructional resources available for business education programmes at the
colleges of education in Edo and Delta states of Nigeria in relation to the standards stipulated by the National
Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). The study adopted the ex-post facto research design and was
guided by five research questions. The population of the study comprised all the six business education
departments of the colleges of education in Edo and Delta states of Nigeria. The entire population was studied in
terms of adequacy of instructional resources. The data for the study was collected through direct observation
using the NCCE benchmarks as inventory and analyzed using ratio and percentage scores. The study found that
lecturers and physical facilities available for business education programmes are adequate in some of the
colleges and not adequate in others. Equipment and supplies in the typing laboratories, shorthand studios and
model offices were found to be grossly inadequate in all the colleges studied. Based on these findings therefore,
it was concluded that students of business education in these colleges of education are learning without the
necessary and required instructional resources for effective development. To this end, it was recommended
among others that the National Commission for Colleges of Education should regularly supervise the
programmes of business education and ensure that their stipulated standards are maintained.

Abstract Conflict is an inevitable phenomenon in this universe as long as humankind exists. This implies that conflict is
natural to human nature. However, conflicts usually occur from the pursuit of divergent interests, goals and aspirations by
individuals or groups in a defined social or physical environment. Thus, conflict is present when two or more parties perceive
that their interests are incompatible, express hostile attitudes, or take, pursue their interests through actions that damage the
other parties. Our contemporary world is experiencing varied dimensions of conflicts cutting across religious, tribal, national,
racial and socio-cultural inclinations. These macro dimensions of conflicts are open or external expression of dissatisfaction of
the aggrieved group which is aimed at injuring other group(s) or reducing if not totally eliminating the existing relationship
between the groups. Conflict that has degenerated to macro level becomes difficult and complex for the parties involved to
personally resolve their differences alone without the aid of external assistance. Hence, this paper addressed effective styles of
conflict resolution and management from the macro perspective.

Abstract The study examined the benefits and problems of integrating Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) into
business education programme in Delta State public tertiary institutions. The study explored two
research questions and tested two hypotheses, using a 0.05 significance level. The study used a
descriptive survey design to gather and analyze data from a population comprising 139 business
educators in the five public tertiary institutions in Delta State that run business education programme.
The entire population was studied with no sampling due to its manageable size. Data for the study were
gathered using a structured questionnaire designed by the researcher which was reviewed by three
renowned experts to confirm its validity. The reliability conducted through a pilot study yielded an
overall co-efficient of 0.82. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed using mean scores,
standard deviation and independent-sampes t-test. The study found that integrating intelligent tutoring
system into business education programme in public tertiary institutions in Delta State can improve
students’ engagement in learning activities, facilitate better curriculum design by analyzing patterns in
student learning behaviours, enhance personalized learning by adapting teaching methods to meet
individual students' needs and reduce the workload of lecturers by automating tasks like grading among
others. It was also found that the problems inhibiting the integration of intelligent tutoring systems into
business education at public tertiary institutions in Delta State included limited funding for
technological innovations, decrease in face-to-face interactions between students and lecturers which
could impede the development of critical communication skills among others. One of the
recommendations of the research is that federal and states governments, in collaboration with
management of tertiary institutions as well as technology companies should set up an endowment fund
to provide infrastructural facilities, funding, and expertise for the integration of intelligent tutoring
systems into business education programme in public tertiary institutions.
